 2. Abaqus Unified FEA Software Suite

The Abaqus Unified Finite Element Analysis product suite offers powerful and complete solutions for the simulation of both routine and sophisticated engineering problems covering a vast spectrum of industrial applications. It has an unsurpassed reputation for technology, quality and reliability. Abaqus is developed by SIMULIA, the brand of Dassault Systèmes focussing on finite element analysis, multiphysics solutions, and simulation lifecycle management. Headquartered in Providence, RI, USA, with R&D centres in Providence and in Suresnes, France, SIMULIA provides sales, services, and support through a global network of regional offices and distributors. WorleyParsons has been the representative of Abaqus since May 2000.

Abaqus/CAE
Abaqus/CAE is a complete solution for modelling, visualization, and process automation of Abaqus simulations.

With Abaqus/CAE you can quickly and efficiently create, edit, monitor, diagnose, and visualize advanced Abaqus analyses. The intuitive interface integrates the modelling sequence in an easy-to-use environment that is simple to learn for new users, yet highly productive for experienced users.

Abaqus/CAE supports familiar interactive computer-aided engineering concepts such as feature-based, parametric modelling, interactive and scripted operation, and GUI customization to support process automation. Abaqus/CAE also offers comprehensive visualization options, which enable users to interpret and communicate the results of any Abaqus analysis.

Abaqus/Standard
Abaqus/Standard enables a wide range of linear and nonlinear engineering simulations to be carried out efficiently, accurately, and reliably. The extensive analysis capabilities, superb performance, thorough documentation, high quality, and best-in-class support make Abaqus/Standard an effective tool for many engineering analyses.

Abaqus/Standard is supported within the Abaqus/CAE modelling environment for all common pre- and post processing needs.
The results from an Abaqus/Standard run can be used as the starting conditions for continuation in Abaqus/Explicit, or an Abaqus/Explicit analysis can be continued in Abaqus/Standard.

Abaqus/Explicit
Abaqus/Explicit provides advanced explicit dynamics finite element analysis. It compliments Abaqus/Standard and is particularly well-suited for simulations of brief transient dynamic events such as consumer electronics drop testing, automotive crashworthiness, and ballistic impact.

It can also be attractive for the simulation of many quasi-static events, such as rolling of hot metal and slow crushing of energy absorbing devices. Ease of use, reliability, and efficiency are key ingredients in its architecture. Abaqus/Explicit is supported within the Abaqus/CAE modelling environment for all common pre- and post processing needs

 3. Flow3D®

FLOW-3D® from Flow Science CFD solutions is a highly-accurate CFD software package that provides engineers valuable insight into a wide range of transient fluid flow and thermal processes. With state-of-the-art Volume of Fluid (VOF) methodologies for tracking free-surface flows, FLOW-3D® is the ideal tool for research, design and optimization for many applications, including casting, microfluidics, hydraulics, aerospace, coating, and consumer products. FLOW-3D® includes everything engineers need in one easy-to-use program, driven by an intuitive user interface. No special additional modules for meshing or post-processing are needed. Users can easily set up a model and quickly mesh it through its graphical model builder, screen out model incompatibilities and configuration errors, and perform detailed analysis through extensive post-processing capabilities.

 4. fe-safe™

Safe Technology is a technical leader in the design and development of durability analysis software. Their advanced cost-effective software systems are supplied to world-wide leading companies. fe-safe™is the flagship product in a suite of durability analysis products and services. With fe-safe™ as an integrated part of your design process, you have the ability to optimise designs and test programs, reduce prototype test times product recalls and warranty costs - all with increased confidence that your product designs pass their test schedules as “right first time”.

“Just using the ‘hot-spot’ principal stress approach would have led us to flag the outer right side as the problem zone, whereas fe-safe™ analysis flagged the lower left side, inner cylindrical tube area as the predicted low life. This was corroborated by lab tests on actual loaded specimens,” Dana Corporation, Automotive Systems Group, USA.
