Grill Award Winners

2007 Global Grill Award Winner - Mahin Rameshni

Based in California, Mahin is the Director of Sulfur Technology in the Hydrocarbons customer sector group.

Norlisk Nickel of Siberia, the world’s largest nickel producer, approached WorleyParsons to provide technology to convert SO2 from their metal smelters to elemental sulfur. Mahin invented the technology to achieve this, developing and patenting an innovative SO2 reduction process that efficiently recovers sulfur from SO2 streams.

Mahin presented her technical solutions to Norlisk in Moscow, convincing them of the technical and commercial superiority of this new approach. It has been selected by their Board for the 1,100 tons per day sulfur production at their copper facilities as well as at their 2,200 tons per day at nickel plants.

2006 Global Grill Award Winner - John Grzan

Based in Singapore, John Grzan has rapidly developed a niche power business. John restructured our high density battery division, Worley Energy Cells, into a three-part business consisting of purpose-designed portable energy products, integrated OEM portable energy solutions and a crossover advanced energy consulting service (Advanced Energy Solutions – AES) tying it back to WorleyParsons’ Power customer sector group.

John’s enthusiasm, innovation and entrepreneurial flair led to a material change in the business created by the Spinmaster project. This more than quadrupled the revenue base, which will exceed US$8 million, from a group of seven employees.

2005 Global Grill Award Winner - Gao Xilin

Mr. Gao Xilin, from our office in Beijing, worked as Engineering Manager and Project Manager on the GE/Liming Joint Venture plant located in Shenyang, Laoning Province, People's Republic of China.

Although it meant extra time and energy, Gao Xilin's team took communication as a key factor to success and used every opportunity to learn more about the customers, constructors, and nominated subcontractors. The plant will produce the key components for gas turbines, which are being used for China's biggest gas pipeline project from Xinjiang Autonomic Region to Shanghai.

As a result of the customer’s confidence in Mr. Gao, they insisted that WorleyParsons manage their next project. Mr. Gao is now managing that assignment, DeGussa PMMA project in Taiwan.
