Planning and Strategy

Contrary to some industry practices, WorleyParsons begins with construction involvement in the Identify and Evaluate phases of the project. We believe considerations such as geographic region constraints, construction risks, ecological impacts and realistic construction methods play a critical role in project evaluation. Construction service input in the beginning represents a focused look at feasibility studies, conceptual design, cost estimating and schedule considerations.

The Define phase is the start of the construction execution plan that becomes the master plan for preconstruction, modularization, construction and completions. This plan includes safety planning, constructability, construction methods, contractor qualification and selection, site logistics, labour studies, along with schedule and cost development. The plan is refined as the project design progresses and becomes the on-site plan for the execute phase.

Completions

Completions is the term WorleyParsonsCord uses to describe the service that encompasses all phases of completing a project.

WorleyParsonsCord’s unique approach is to plan the finish in the beginning. Identifying the fundamentals early in the project cycle provides a systematic approach that improves schedule and provides high technical assurance confidence. Identifying the completions plan early also allows modification of the construction sequences to best accommodate the completions effort.

To provide this service in an efficient manner with consistent results, WorleyParsons utilizes the Completions Management Tool (CMT). This software  is a state of the art proprietary database enabling interface with design software, testing reports, document control, and scheduling applications in an electronic format. During the field Completions effort the tool provides turn-over systems, inspection check off sheets, and final turn-over packages in an electronic environment.

Improve

Our Improve offering is tailored to provide construction services for relationship based asset services opportunities

This construction service line complements the global WorleyParsons Improve strategy and reflects its principles and framework as applied to construction. Unlike one-off projects, Improve focuses on the opportunity to improve services and performance as relationships mature, requirements are optimized and a stable competent work group is developed.

With any project, the development of a team is an important aspect and reaching the 'well oiled machine’ state takes time. Typically, by the end of the project the team is working at full efficiency, work processes are optimized, roles and responsibilities are well defined and relationships are built. Improve capitalizes on this established work group. With knowledge of requirements, expectations and existing relationships, this team is able to hit the ground running on the first day of the project. Some of our Improve alliances have lasted over 10 years and are still going strong. We find significance in cost savings along with an advantage in safety and quality with this approach.
