Worley is starting to reap the rewards of a significant project for its customer, Chevron Offshore Thailand Limited. It has recently commissioned the remote control of the first minimum facilities platform in the Benchamas Field, BWH.
This the first of six platforms that Worley has designed to be remotely controlled from the central control room located on the living quarters platform. The operators can now initiate well tests and return the wells to production without leaving the comfort of the CCR, which reduces both the operating costs and the risk to personnel.
In addition, control and instrumentation modifications have been made to the three host platforms. The control system upgrades on the host platforms have included the conversion of the original pneumatics to an electronic system, with the control and safeguarding system using a sophisicated PLC/ HMI system. This system can also be controlled remotely from the central control room located on the main complex platform.
