The Mbalam Iron Ore Project is situated in the Republic of Cameroon in central West Africa and forms part of an emerging iron ore province - extending through the Republic of Cameroon, the Congo Republic and Gabon.

Sundance Resources is aiming to confirm sufficient hematite mineralisation to support production at 35 million tonnes per annum for at least 20 years, with a target commencement of operations in 2011.

WorleyParsons has undertaken a study evaluating critical development options and producing an execution plan, budget and schedule for the multi-billion dollar mine development. The proposed projects includes a new open-cut mine, crushing and screening plant, stockpiling facilities, 490 kilometre railway system and a new port capable of handling 250,000 tonne DWT capsize vessels.
