Planned for installation in 2010 , NRB will unlock low-pressure reserves from the North Rankin and Perseus offshore gas and condensate fields and, hence, ensure gas supply to the North West Shelf onshore liquefied natural gas production facilities. The new platform will be linked to the existing NRA platform and provide gas compression and condensate pumping for the fluids produced from the NRA wells.
The NRB platform consists of one of the world’s largest integrated topsides installed by the float-over method. The 20,000+ tonne steel substructure (located in a water depth of 130m) must resist cyclonic storm wave heights of over 25m placing in one of the worlds most severe operating climates.
WorleyParsons is providing the EPCM services for both the new platform (in joint venture with KBR) and also for the significant modifications / life extension to the existing NRA platform (in joint venture with Transfield Services).
