The New Doha International Airport (NDIA) will have a capacity to service 24 million passengers at 2009, growing up to 54 million by 2015.
WorleyParsons undertook the detailed design and provided procurement and construction support for all elements of Water and Utility Systems for the New Doha International Airport (NDIA) in Qatar.
The project included a:
- Wastewater treatment plant 28800m3/day capacity
- Water distribution system including potable water / fire water tanks and airport wide underground distribution system (110km of pipes)
- Wastewater collection system comprising gravity sewers and 42 nos. lift stations and rising mains
- Reclaimed irrigation water system
- Power distribution system (66 KV / 11 KV Network) including 5 nos. 66/11 KV GIS Substation, 200+ MVA power demand, 100+11 KV facility distribution S/S, 450 km of 11 KV cable, 50+ km of 11kV power distribution duct-banks, and 200+ facility distribution transformers
- Airport telecommunication and air traffic control duct-bank system
WorleyParsons provided more than 150,000 man-hours of engineering services and co-ordinated the work of more than 10 contractors. Through advanced analysis techniques and engineering optimization, WorleyParsons has introduced many cost saving measures to reduce material, equipment and construction costs. This performance has led to WorleyParsons being engaged to provide engineering services for critical systems to a number of other contractors on the NDIA project.
